How will you spoil your loved one this Valentine’s day? It’s fast approaching, and if soggy toast and cold tea in bed on Saturday morning just won’t cut the mustard, we better get planning….. From the traditional to the whacky and the sedate to the bonkers, there are loads of original ways to celebrate Valentines Day in Snowdonia. Here’s some of our favourites….

• Head out for a romantic walk – take your other half on a lovely stroll around some of the best scenery in Britain. Choose from a hike to the top of Snowdon, or a more leisurely amble around the beautiful Vale of Ffestiniog, right here outside the Oakeley Arms. You’ll find more inspiration on our Walks page….

• Oggy Oggy – if your loved one’s a sports fanatic then why not celebrate Valentine’s Day in Snowdonia by taking them to watch the rugby? Wales are playing against Scotland up in Murrayfield on the 15th February, but you could always pop and see us here at the Oakeley and watch the match from the comfort of our cosy bar!
• Zippidy doo dah – if your valentine is more of an adrenalin junkie than a sofa squatter, then why not treat them to a day out at one of Snowdonia’s most exciting attractions? • Village gossip – one of the most romantic places in Snowdonia has got to be the beautiful Portmeirion village. Amble around the beautiful village square, walk down to the deserted beach or even enjoy a pamper at the lovely spa…..

• Life’s a beach – a bracing walk along one of our beautiful beaches is sure to get your heart racing. And you’re spoilt for choice! There are stunning beaches at Borth-y-Gest, Harlech, Dinas Dinlle, Barmouth, Criccieth and Abersoch. And after a windswept walk, you’ll have to cuddle together to warm up by the fire in a cosy bar.
• Steamy Weekend – add some steam to your Valentine’s Day in Snowdonia and treat your loved one to a trip on one of Snowdonia’s vintage steam trains. The views are stunning, the trains are historic and the romance is yours for the taking!
• Feel Electric – make the sparks fly with a trip to the brilliant Electric Mountain attraction in Llanberis. Deep in the mountain is one of Europe’s largest man-made caverns, home to electricity making wizardry.
• Queen for the day – make the lady in your life feel extra special with a trip to one of the beautiful castles that are dotted across Snowdonia, and she’ll feel like a queen for a day…. There are brilliant castles to explore at Harlech, Criccieth, Caernarfon and Beaumaris to name a few.
