So, summer is officially here… isn’t it? Well, perhaps not according to all the grey and wet stuff in the sky (did the sunshine forget to update his diary?) but with less than 2 weeks to go until the start of the summer holidays, we thought we’d take this chance to celebrate ALL the wonderful things about summer – sun or no sun……

Here’s our ten best things about summer… What are yours?

• Waiting, wishing, hoping, praying (and talking) about the sunshine and when it might arrive. What on earth would we think about otherwise? And when it actually arrives, then of course the only thing to do is to complain about how it’s too hot…..
• Longer evenings – lovely, long evenings sitting out in the garden with a glass of wine. Heaven!
• The Oakeley’s beer garden – see above 🙂 It’s a sun trap in the day and a perfect spot later on for evening relaxing.
• BBQ’s – or at least the idea of one… Just don’t plan too far ahead, and always, always be prepared for an indoor BBQ….
• HOLIDAYS! One of the best things about summer, of course! Not booked yours yet? Then how about a break in beautiful Snowdonia?
• Wearing flip-flops or sandals (NOOOOO definitely not with socks!)
• Outdoor adventures – we’re not saying we can’t have outdoor adventures in the winter, but the longer days and milder weather make it much easier to head out on a lovely walk, a hike up a mountain or a swim at the beach.
• Shorts and brown legs! Except for men in shorts when it’s blowing a gale, bucketing it down and more like November than July. Did they not look out of the window before dressing?
• Beach time – oh yes, one of our favourites…… just add sun and a picnic and we are happy, happy, happy.
• Gorgeous Snowdonia – now, we think Snowdonia looks stunning at any time of year, but the summer is just so beautiful. The sea is sparkling, the hills are lush and green and the mountains are calling….. Happy summer holidays!!!
