Snap the Rock’n’Roll
April 6th, 2014
Rock Photography Exhibition opens in Conwy
We have been known to let our rock hair down and grab an air guitar on a Saturday night here at the Oakeley Arms Hotel Bar in Snowdonia, and if you’re a fan of all things rock’n’roll too then you’re going to love a new exhibition that has come to North Wales this week.
“Sex, Drugs and Rock’n’Roll” is a brand new exhibition of previously unseen photographs from the world of rock music, all taken by renowned photographer Mike McCartney, brother of the world famous Paul.
Just like his brother, Mike McCartney loved all things rock’n’roll and even found success in the 1970s with his own band The Scaffold, but it is with photography that he has found his true calling. Of course, Mike began his career trailing after his brother’s band and snapping shots of the famous four, along with the acts they were supporting, and later those who supported them.
Mike’s career has now spanned 60 years and he has snapped rock acts from across the decades. When Mike’s son opened a new tattoo parlour, he asked his father for some shots to decorate the walls and some that might attract new customers. The pictures were a roaring success and they inspired Mike to take the exhibition on tour.
The exhibition is on now and runs until the 12th May. It’s at Theatre Colwyn in Colwyn Bay, and you can find out more details here
