Here at the Oakeley Arms we love our pooches, they really are a man (and woman’s) best friend. All our holiday cottages allow four-legged friends with well behaved owners, so in this week’s blog post we’re celebrating all things dog-shaped. If you bring your pooch on holiday, then here’s our handy guide to a Dog Friendly Snowdonia – all the places, venues and hot-spots that will allow you and your dog to hang out together, awwwwww.

• Beaches – most of the beaches in Snowdonia are doggy friendly during the summer months (some have restrictions on certain sections of beach during high season March – Oct).  Pooches will love the wide open spaces at Harlech or Black Rock Beach, the secret coves and rock pools of Borth-y-Gest or the lofty sand dunes at Shell Island.

• Attractions – many open-air attractions in Snowdonia allow well-behaved pooches on leads. Criccieth Castle, Coed-y-Brenin Forest, Greenwood Park and the Segontium Roman Fort in Caernarfon are all great days out that welcome dogs. You can also take your four legged friend for a trip on the Ffestiniog or Welsh Highland Railways (third class carriages only).
• Pubs – there are loads of doggy friendly pubs in Snowdonia. Try the Saracens Head in Beddgelert, The Union in Tremadog, the Brondanw Arms in Llanfrothen, Ty Mawr in Llanbedr or the Last Inn in Barmouth.
• Cottages – try one of the Oakeley Arms’ self catering holiday cottages in Snowdonia; we welcome well-behaved owners with their four legged friends!!
