Can you believe a whole year has whizzed by since the Wales Coast Path opened on the 5th May 2012? No, neither can we!

The path has been a huge success, with statistics showing that almost 3 million people had used the path in 2012 and that it is worth approximately £16million to the economy of Wales.

The Wales Coast Path was the first of it’s kind in the world – it circumnavigates every inch of Wales’ craggy coastline; no other country has a path around it’s entire coast, so Wales set the precedent! It runs for 870 miles, from the Welsh border near Chester in the north, to the town of Chepstow in South East Wales.

There are loads of options for short walks along the path, but if you feel like a challenge, you could walk the whole thing! And then link up with the Offa’s Dyke Path which runs roughly along the Welsh/English border – a complete circuit of Wales!

As well as great walks, there are loads of things to see and places to visit along the path – magnificent castles, historic towns, ancient ruins, cosy pubs, pretty villages and fantastic beaches are all waiting to be discovered!
