World Travel Week

January 18th, 2015

So, have the January blues hit yet? The so-called Blue Monday isn’t far away (the Monday of the last full week of January has been dubbed by scientists as the most depressing of the year), and what with diets failing, Christmas bills coming in and the reality that another year at work is dawning makes January a pretty grumpy month all round really.

We think one great way to beat the January blues is to go on holiday! Yeah, just pack your case and head into the sunset for a long weekend of chilled out relaxing. And it’ll be just in time too, because next week is World Travel Week (19th-25th January). World Travel Week is all about inspiring people to try a new destination, be it far and away or close to home.

And you know where our vote is going for the best holiday destination! We’re urging all our lovely blog readers to come and see us here in Snowdonia for a fabulous mini-break. And even if you’ve been here before, we bet there’s something new to discover…. Here in Snowdonia, there’s absolutely loads to see and do, right on the doorstep of the Oakeley Arms Hotel. Here’s our favourites, how many have you done?

  • Portmeirion – this iconic Italian style village is a must-visit for anyone coming to the stay in Snowdonia.
  • Snowdon! Because you can’t come to Snowdonia and miss out the mountain…. and if you don’t fancy the walk, just jump on the train!
  • Ffestiniog Railway – one of the oldest narrow-gauge railways in the world, a trip on the Ffestiniog steam railway is simply stunning.
  • Zip World – North Wales has become the zip-line capital of the world thanks to the amazing zip-wires that have opened up over disused quarries close to the Oakeley Arms. Speed through the air at up to 70 mph, just like superman!
  • Harlech Castle – this ancient castle is still standing at over 800 years old. Impressive!
  • Royal St Davids Golf Course – if you’re a fan of golf then a hole or two at the only Royal Golf Course in the area.
  • Dolphin Trips – The dolphins of Cardigan Bay are renowned for their friendly nature and to spot them in the wild is just awesome.

So, come on over to Snowdonia for your January blues-busting trip and see what you can discover. Here at the Oakeley Arms we’ve got a range of accommodation options including self-catering cottages and beautiful hotel rooms. See you soon!
