We love ice cream
April 22nd, 2015
All of this gloriously sunny weather here in Snowdonia has turned our thoughts to one of our favourite things – ice cream! We love ice cream, and on a hot, sunny day, there’s absolutely nothing better than a sticky, sweet and creamy ice cream treat. Yum!
So, it’s lucky really that there are some fantastic places to grab a delicious ice cream, all just a stone’s throw from us here at the Oakeley Arms.
Here are our favourites!
- Cadwalader’s Ice Cream, High Street, Porthmadog – a North Wales institution, this chain of ice cream parlours has been going for almost 90 years – since 1927. The family business started with just one shop in Criccieth, but the empire has since expanded. Good thing the ice cream is as good as ever! There are also Cadwalader’s ice cream parlours at Portmeirion, Criccieth and Betws-y-Coed.
- Glaslyn Ices, Beddgelert – an old favourite, where the daily selection of ice creams and sorbets is freshly made on the premises. Yum!
- Knickerbockers, Barmouth – definitely one of our favourite places to grab an ice cream (or two) before hitting the beach.
- Red Boat Gelato, Beaumaris – a bit of a drive but worth it for the best ice cream on Anglesey!
- Hufenfa’r Castell, Harlech – fantastic homemade artisan ice cream in the shadow of the mighty Harlech castle.
Mmmmm delicious! Who’s for seconds? Oh go on then….. did we tell you that we love ice cream!
