Half-Term Hotspots

Yay! The half-term holidays are here, and families across the country will be celebrating with days off, holidays and fun days out. Here at the Oakeley Arms, we really hope that the sun comes out to play (and stay) so we can all enjoy the break and have lots of Snowdonia holiday fun.

And if you’re heading over to Snowdonia for the half term holidays then here’s our handy guide to all the fun events and attractions that you won’t want to miss!

• Eisteddfod yr Urdd 2014, Bala – This year’s fantastic Eisteddfod is hosted by the town of Bala, just a few miles from the Oakeley Arms. Pop over to the main maes (field) and be a part of the fun; there’s allsorts going on!
• Gypsy Wood Park – This fun, family park comes complete with a whole host of animals, fairies, woodland walks, train rides, play areas and loads to see and do. There’s never a dull moment here!
• All Wales Boat Show – taking place in Conwy this year, the All Wales Boat show is a must for all boat owners, or wannabe owners! You’ll find your perfect boat here, as well as stands from lots of local businesses and loads of adventure water sports to get involved with.
• Abersoch 10k Run – if you’re feeling energetic this half term then why not enter the Abersoch 10k run; a great way to boost your fitness! And if running the course doesn’t do it for you why not go along to cheer on the participants and enjoy some Abersoch entertainment!
• Mawddach Paddlesports Festival – just a short drive from the Oakeley Arms, this lovely festival will celebrate all things “paddle”! From races to demonstrations to “have-a-go”s to guided paddles, there’s something for everyone. Taking place in Barmouth, Gwynedd.
• Jazz Trains on the Ffestiniog Railway – combining vintage trains with vintage music, this popular event by the Ffestiniog Railway is returning to Tan-y-Bwlch on the 29th May.
