Snowdonia Bucket List
May 15th, 2016
Regular readers of our blog will know that here at the Oakeley Arms we absolutely love living and working here in beautiful Snowdonia. We believe that there’s absolutely nowhere else like it in the world, let alone in Wales. It’s truly a magical destination that offers so much to see and do in a glorious landscape of mountains and sea.
So to celebrate our beautiful area we’ve put together a Snowdonia Bucket List guide. And if you’re not sure what a bucket list is, then basically it’s a list of all the goals and ambitions you’d like to achieve before you die. Our version though is not so morbid – its a list of the must-visit places, must-do experiences and must-see landscapes in Snowdonia to do while you’re here!
Snowdonia Bucket List here we come……
- Try one of the brilliant mountain biking routes at Coed y Brenin mountain bike centre.
- Climb Snowdon (and going by train doesn’t count…). For real dare-devils the path via Crib Goch is pretty hair raising!
- Speed through the air at 100mph on Zip World’s Velocity Zip Line near Bethesda.
- Go white water rafting at the National White Water Centre near Bala.
- Hop on a flight at Llanbedr airport and see gorgeous Snowdonia from the sky.
- Have a day’s surfing at the UK’s only artificial surfing lake.
- Or try catching some ocean waves at North Wales’ surfing centre – Abersoch, on the Llyn Peninsula.
- Swim in the refreshing waterfalls of Cwm Nantcol, just above Llanbedr.
- Lie back and star gaze on a long, warm summer night.
- Bounce the day away at Bounce Below – an awesome indoor trampoline adventure set in disused mining caves.
- Hop on a boat trip to witness the bottlenose dolphins of Cardigan Bay.
- Ride the length of the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways – one of the oldest narrow gauge railways in the world.
- Go coasteering on the fantastic coastline of Cardigan Bay.
- Follow in the footsteps of Number 6 with a day at Portmeirion.
- Go to one of the region’s fantastic outdoor festivals – from Festival Number 6 to Glass Butter Beach to Wakestock.
- Walk the Wales Coast Path – or at least some of it!
- Zoom back to medieval times at one of our amazing castles.
- Have a picnic on the beach (with something more exciting than sandy sandwiches!)
- Have a go at kite flying on one of our gorgeously long sandy beaches.
- Indulge in a Cadwaladers Ice Cream – world famous and legendary ice cream… yes please!
- Tour the Purple Moose Brewery in Porthmadog and sample award winning ales.
- Have a dip in the sea – and not just a paddle either… go on, jump right in!
- Hire a paddleboard or a kayak and head out for a day’s paddling around the coast.
- Stay in one of the most historic hotels in Snowdonia – the Oakeley Arms of course!
So what’s on your Snowdonia Bucket List? If you tick off every one of these activities during your Snowdonia holiday then we’ll be really impressed, and can’t wait to hear all about it! Good luck!
