August 11th, 2014
It’s raining, it’s pouring
Oh dear, the glorious heatwave we were basking in has finally broken. It’s rain, rain, rain here in Snowdonia today, with more forecast over the coming week. But, never mind we say! We think Snowdonia is beautiful whatever the weather. And if your plans to take the kids to the beach have been scuppered then worry not, because there are still loads of fun, family days out you can do in Snowdonia without getting wet.
Here are our top tips and ideas for a rainy day Snowdonia…..
- Bounce Below, Blaenau Ffestiniog – who cares if it’s raining when you’re bouncing away on enormous trampolines that are a few hundred foot underground in an old slate cavern? Bounce Below is one of Snowdonia’s newest, and hottest attractions – and it’s just a stone’s throw from the Oakeley Arms.
- Electric Mountain, Llanberis – add some spark to your day with a trip to the brilliant Electric Mountain in Llanberis. Discover how the beautiful lake (with the help of a few rain drops!) holds the secret to producing tonnes of hydro-electricity.
- Penrhyn Castle, nr Bangor – there’s plenty of things to see and do inside this magnificent castle to pass a whole rainy day.
- King Arthur’s Labyrinth, Corris – this underground adventure means it doesn’t matter if it’s raining buckets outside – you’ll still have a brilliant time discovering the secrets of Arthurs legend at this magical, mythical place.
- Sygun Copper Mine, Beddgelert – explore the old mine workings and uncover the secrets of Snowdonia’s rich industrial heritage. And all without the need for a brolly!
- Mermaid Spa, Portmeirion – not one for the kids, but if you fancy a bit of TLC in luxurious surroundings then head to the beautiful Mermaid Spa in Portmeirion village for a relaxing treatment. Who care if it’s raining?
Whatever you get up to on a rainy day in Snowdonia, we hope you have lots of fun. And don’t get too soggy!!
