A lot of the country woke up to a covering of snow this morning, and there’s more forecast for the end of the week. Real winter weather at last! Was it a blanket with you, or just a sprinkling? The one good thing about snow here in Snowdonia is that the mountains look even more stunning than usual!

And that’s not the only good thing. Snow means FUN in the snow! You’ve just got to unleash your inner child and get out there and play! And if you’re looking for some inspiration then here are our top tips for games to play in the snow. Now go and play!!

• Don’t limit yourself to a snowman! Why not try making other creatures – snakes, caterpillars (place snowballs in a wiggly line), butterflies and cats are all quite easy too!
• Build a snow castle! Buckets and spades aren’t just for the beach….. use them to create a snow castle too.
• If the temperature is still freezing then grab a bubble wand to take outside with you. Blow bubbles and watch them freeze!
• Snow graffiti – fill spray bottles with water coloured with food colouring and use the whole white garden as your new canvas.
• Snowball target – create a large circle in the snow, with a smaller one inside and use it as a target for a snowball throwing competition.
• Snowball fight! Oh yeah! (just watch the windows please….)
• Make a snow angel – lie on your back in the snow and move your arms in a semi-circle from beside your legs to above your head. When you stand up, your outline will look like it has wings!
• Pin the eyes on the snowman – a great variation of the favourite party game! Blindfold each participant at their turn and get them to place the eyes on the right place on the snowman’s face.
• Snowman’s hat – build a nice tall snowman with a round head with a flattened top, and then take it in turns to try and throw a hat onto the top of his head.
• Draw a noughts and crosses board in the snow and use sticks and stones or pinecones as game pieces. Best of 3!
• Build a snow-family! We all know that building a good old-fashioned snowman will always be the favourite game to play in the snow, but don’t limit yourself to just one lonely snowman. If you’ve got enough snow then why not create a whole snow-family, and raid the dressing up box to personalise them!
