Regular readers of the Oakeley blog will know that earlier this year we featured a post about the brilliant Tom Jones who performed at the Access All Eirias festival in Colwyn Bay this summer.

Well, it’s time for music lovers to hang on to their seats again, as new has just reached us that the number 1 superstar Sir Elton John will be coming to North Wales next summer!

He’ll be performing at the same Eirias Stadium in Colwyn Bay that Sir Tom did last year (and pop acts Olly Murs and Pixie Lott before him too) as part of his 2015 European Tour. Elton John in North Wales will be one of only six gigs in the whole of the UK.

Sir Elton is said to be excited about performing in Colwyn Bay – it’ll be his first time up in North Wales, although he has played a few gigs in South Wales since his first in 1976.

Sir Elton John is one of Britain’s best loved pop stars, known for his flamboyant outfits and glasses as much as for his catchy songs. In his career, which has spanned five decades, Elton has sold over 300 million records, which makes him one of the most successful artists in the world. And he’s had over 50 Top 40 records. Elton’s other claim to the record books is that his single tribute to Diana, Princess of Wales, Candle in the Wind 1997 is the biggest selling single of all time with a whopping 33 million copies around the world.

So, what a celebration it’ll be next June, when we welcome one of the world’s biggest singing stars – Elton John in North Wales could be a once in a lifetime opportunity for his legions of Welsh fans.
