So, what are you up to next weekend? Here in our special corner of Snowdonia, there’s always something magical going on, but on the 26th and 27th October a little town not far from the Oakeley Arms will come alive with the sound of music, the smell of good food and the sight of inspiring art.

Gwledd Conwy Feast is one of the newest festivals on the block, and it’s a huge celebration of not just food, but art and music too. In the shadow of the magnificent 13th century castle, the Festival takes place over two days and will turn a small seaside town in to a hustling, bustling hive of activity. To celebrate all the excellent local food produce we have here, there will be food stalls and exhibitors, demos from professional chefs, advice and help about growing your own food and pop-up champagne and beer bars. Sounds pretty delicious to us!

And to add to the delicious foodie atmosphere there are some top musicians gracing the stages of the music marquee over the weekend – from ex-Inspiral Carpet member Tom Hingley to John Power of The La’s and Cast, along with a whole host of local bands and musicians to get your foot tapping.

And let’s not forget the arts – Gwledd Conwy Feast will feature performing street arts, interactive art for the whole family and a stunning digital laser art display.

So, what’s not to love! It’s a perfect weekend for the whole family; the town of Conwy is just an hour’s drive from the Oakeley Arms, so how about renting one of our beautiful self catering holiday cottages in Snowdonia – that way you can avoid the traffic crowds and be sure of some luxurious accommodation and head up to the festival sites during the day. It’s even possible to make the journey by train – take the stunning Ffestiniog Railway from Tan-y-Bwlch to Blaenau Ffestiniog and then hop onto the main Conwy Valley line which will take you right into the heart of the festival action and a perfect day out.
