Where:              Capel Curig, Conwy

Distance:          Approx 4 miles

Difficulty:          Strenuous hill walk

Start:                Car park at Capel Curig (take the A5 between Betws-y-Coed and Bethesda. Find the car park behind the Pinnacle shop and café)

Grid Ref:           SH 720 581

Maps:               OS Explorer OL 17: Snowdon

Directions:

1: Leave the car park and walk over the bridge and back down to the main road. Cross the road to a traffic island and then again to find a stile by a gate and a memorial (with church on right). Cross the stile and follow path across pasture and then through wall gap, staying ahead on the path to reach another stile.

2: Cross it and follow the path to cross two more stiles. Eventually reach a bridge, walk across it then turn left and follow the path over a small hill. Cross the stile and stay with the path, keeping the stream (Nant y Geuallt) on your left. Cross another stile eventually and continue on the ascending path.

3: At a path junction, bear left to walk through the boggy reeds and then upwards towards the top of the hill. Continue to reach the summit, but beware of steep and slippery sections. Walk along the ridge, following the path as it aims for the small lake below – Llyn Coryn (keep it on the right).

4: When you reach a stile, cross it and continue to another stile between outcrops of rock. Cross the stile and bear right and downhill; cross two more stiles and then carefully walk down the steep hillside to reach the path used at the beginning of the walk.

5: Turn right and follow path back to main road, then return to car park.
