Britain’s Favourite Biscuit

May 27th, 2015

You know that feeling – after a hectic morning, a non-existent lunch break and another manic Monday afternoon you kick your shoes off, listen to the beautiful noise of the kettle boiling, make yourself a much needed cuppa (or a panad, as we’d say here in Wales) and lower yourself into your favourite, cosiest, comfiest chair.

Heaven…..

Except there’s one thing missing from this beautiful daydream, and that’s a biscuit of course! We all know that nothing beats a panad and a biscuit, but what’s your favourite. Are you a dunker or a cruncher? A ginger nut or a chocolate finger? A naughty cookie or a saintly wafer?

It turns out that we’re a nation of biscuit lovers. On average we each have three cups of tea a day, and two of those will be enjoyed with a biscuit (or two? Or four?). A new survey has found that Britain’s favourite biscuit is the humble digestive, but not the ordinary kind, oh no…. we Brits prefer the decadence of a lovely chocolate topping.

But, the challenge to find Britain’s favourite biscuit was a closely debated contest, and although the chocolate digestive came out on top, other favourite dunkers weren’t far behind…… Here’s the Top Ten….

  • Chocolate Digestive
  • Chocolate Hob-Nob
  • Custard Cream
  • Shortbread biscuit
  • Jaffa Cakes
  • Chocolate Chip Cookies
  • Plain Digestives
  • Ginger Nuts
  • Bourbon
  • Chocolate Fingers

Mmmmmm, now we’re ready for a panad. Question is, which biscuit shall we dunk in it?? Decisions decisions…..
