Sniff out the Chocolate….

Only a few days to go now until Easter weekend, and here at the Oakeley Arms we’re pretty excited! Easter is one of our favourite times of the year (of course it’s nothing to do with being legitimately allowed to eat our own body weight in chocolate mmmmmm).

An Easter egg hunt will be one of the nation’s best-loved activities over the weekend, and we think it’s one of the best ways to spend a few hours with the family on Easter Sunday. Little kids, big kids and wanna-be kids will all love a good adventure and a chocolate egg themed treasure hunt. You can either attend an organised one in your local area, or you can follow our tips below and create your own.

• Think about the location for your Easter egg hunt – you can organise a hunt in your own garden, or take it locally to some woodlands, the park or even the beach! Kids will love running around outside.
• Make it small by just involving your family, or make a big event out of it and invite friends and neighbours too.
• You can use a series of clues (great for older kids) to lead to each egg (and another clue) or a simple egg hunt works well for younger children.
• All you need are some inexpensive baskets for the kids to collect their treasure, along with some chocolate eggs of various sizes (the larger egg/s can be saved for the last clue or could be the hardest to find). You might also need some small plastic bowls or eggs to hide smaller chocolates in.
• If you’re feeling really creative why not think up an Easter story that weaves it’s way into your Easter egg hunt? Kids will love to use their imaginations to wander around an easter-inspired fictional world!
• You can add an extra element of fun to the day by asking everyone to come in fancy dress; Easter themed of course!
• Don’t forget some snacks and drinks for the grown-ups while the kids are hunting.
• Why not try an active egg hunt and get the kids to burn off even more energy! Start each clue or hunt with an activity like star-jumps or cartwheels. Those kids will sleep well that night!!
• Don’t forget to have lots of Easter fun. And all that chocolate will taste twice as nice if you’ve worked hard to find it!!
