Autumn Internationals
November 8th, 2013
Welcome back Rugby
Here at the Oakeley Arms we think it feels like a looooong time since the fabulous 6 Nations win for the Welsh Rugby Team at the beginning of the year; so we are thrilled that the Autumn International rugby games have started again.
The Autumn International games are on every year in the well, autumn! It’s a chance for the top teams in the Northern Hemisphere to compete against the top Southern Hemisphere teams. And whilst there may be no such thing as a “friendly” game in international rugby, there isn’t a trophy to be had – the winners take just the glory!
The games have started, but Wales’ first test match is tomorrow (Saturday) evening, when they meet the formidable South African team at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. The Welsh team are set for the challenge, and what a challenge it’ll be. Although coach Warren Gatland has helped the team secure many wins in his six year tenure, they have only beat a Southern Hemisphere giant once before. Wales have not beaten South Africa since 1999.
So boys, it’s time to end the 14 year wait. We know you can do it!
Kick off is at 5:30pm, and of course the match will be shown in the Oakeley Arms bar. Join us for what is set to be a brilliant game, and of course enjoy the usual free bowl of curry or chilli at half time.
See you tomorrow!!
