Half Term Hoots

So the October half term holidays are nearly upon us, and if the thought of a week with the kids is already causing a few more grey hairs than usual then you’re not alone! Parents across the country are wondering how they’re going to entertain their little angels for a week, but luckily here in Snowdonia we’ve got loads of great days out to keep them (and you) out of trouble.

Read on for our suggestions of some top Snowdonia Half Term days out…..

• The Halloween Spooktacular at Greenwood Forest Park near Caernarfon runs from the 19th to the 3rd November and kids will love getting creative with spooky crafts, meet a witch’s pet or get your face painted in true Halloween style at this adventure play park.
  
• Special Halloween trains are running on some of the region’s vintage railway lines – The Ffestiniog Railway, The Welsh Highland Railway and The Llanberis Lake Railway
• Lots of spooky fun at the Welsh Mountain Zoo for the annual Shriek Week. Running from the 26th October to the 3rd November, there will be a whole host of creepy activities from pumpkin carving and face painting to magic monsters and a tricky trail.
• Head to the National Slate Museum in Llanberis for a week of Halloween Hullaballoo where you can follow the special Halloween trail through the museum. Don’t get spooked!!
• There’s free entry for all children under 16 at the Caernarfon Airworld Aviation Museum
• Bodnant Gardens near Conwy is the setting for the special Halloween spooky night walk on the 31st October – head over for a fright in the woods!
• And for some activities that don’t hurt the wallet, how about an autumn walk up Snowdon, a trail through the forest at Coed-y-Brenin or a trip to one of the area’s beautiful beaches to build sandcastles.
• And last, but certainly not least, why not bring the whole family to the Oakeley Arms for a delicious bar meal or afternoon tea treat?
