Have you seen the weather forecast for this week? Our lovely weatherman has promised wall-to-wall sunshine and a mini-heatwave across most of Wales. What a brilliant start to the summer month of July. We can only hope that it continues into the weekend, and even beyond that into the summer holidays. Wouldn’t it be great if every day of July and August was blazing sunshine and lovely and warm….. now that’s what we’d call a summer holiday!

But, if the gorgeous weather isn’t enough of a reason to drag you over to beautiful Snowdonia then there are loads of other reasons why you should come and say hi. Here are our favourite 6 reasons to visit the Oakeley Arms this summer……..

• We are situated in the heart of the Vale of Ffestiniog, and are the perfect base for exploring Snowdonia. We’re just a short drive from the Zip World attractions, the town of Betws-y-Coed, Portmeirion Village, Porthmadog, a huge variety of gorgeous beaches, the base of Snowdon, the Ffestiniog Railway, Harlech Castle, the Welsh Highland Railway, the Glaslyn Ospreys, the Mawddach Trail, Barmouth bridge, and many, many more of North Wales’ wonderful attractions. • Our bar serves some of the best local ales and cider you’ll find in the area! We’re an approved Cask Marque pub so you know that every pint we serve is top quality. We also love to support local independent breweries, so you’ll find our bar stocked with great ales from the likes of Miws Piws Brewery, Bragdy Conwy, Great Orme Brewery, and more.

• The Oakeley Arms is a Grade II listed historic building. The main part of the hotel dates back to the 16th century, when it was used as a drover’s inn, as well as police station and court-house. In the mid 1800s it was re-named The Oakeley Arms Hotel in honour of the Oakeley family who owned the Tan-y-Bwlch estate that the hotel was part of. The current owners Ann-Marie and Chris Vanstone acquired the crumbling building in 2003, and have dedicated their working lives to restoring and refurbishing the grand hotel to its former glory.
