We love this story that we heard about this week! It’s the tale of a Welsh holiday, a long-forgotten postcard and a postal service that takes slow to another level!

A postcard that was sent 30 years ago from the Welsh coastal town of Nefyn, just a stone’s throw from the Oakeley Arms down the Llyn Peninsula, has finally been delivered to the address it was sent to.

The card, addressed to “Gran” was posted in the summer of 1984 to an address in County Durham, but it was only delivered last week! That’s got to be a contender for the record of the slowest post?! We wonder if it really was delivered by snail mail?

The young postcard writer describes north wales as “just like being abroad” (so it must have been a good summer!) and describes the views of the mountains from their campsite. The lady it was delivered to sadly died some time ago but the new owner of her house is keen that the postcard is reunited with its rightful owner – the mysterious postcard writer, signed as Joanne. The 30 year old postcard is still in perfect condition, so it must have been found in a mail storage centre somewhere.
