Welcome to Snowdonia! This summer our beautiful corner of Wales will play host to thousands of families as they enjoy their holidays. It’s not news that Snowdonia is one of the most popular areas of the UK to take a staycation, and there are loads and loads of reasons why – not least because you’ll find us here at the Oakeley Arms, perched right on the edge of Snowdonia.

1. SNOWDON – We’ve got the highest mountain in England and Wales! Snowdon stands a whopping 1,000 metres above sea level and there are loads of ways to get to the top if you fancy a challenge. There are plenty of paths, and even a train if your walking boots are having a day off!
2. HILLS – And it’s not all about one mountain either. There are tens of different mountain ranges scattered across Snowdonia, so  you can take your pick of hills to climb!
3. VIEWS – All those mountains, hills and peaks make some of the most beautiful views and stunning scenery you’ve ever seen…..
4. ADVENTURE – Snowdonia is an adventure playground. Fancy zooming along the fastest zip-wire in Europe? No problem! How about the largest underground trampoline park in the UK? No problem. Fancy a surf on a specially built inland surfing lagoon? Sure! How about kayaking, coasteering, wild swimming or surfing? Come on down! Hiking, camping, trekking, climbing, abseiling? It’s all here in Snowdonia, and much, much more.
5. HISTORY – Castles, museums, industrial heritage sites, world heritage sites, ancient hillforts and a landscape and coastline that is millions of years old.
6. CYMRAEG – Ok, so we know some words are trickier than a tounge-twister with a mouthful of jelly babies, but to which other UK country could you go to and have all the thrills of a foreign language? Welsh is one of the oldest languages in the world, and if you’re lucky enough to hear it spoken fluently, it’s also one of the most beautiful.
7. FOOD, GLORIOUS FOOD – Snowdonia is home to some of the finest local food you’ll find anywhere in Britain. We’ve got handmade chocolates, dairy ice cream, salt-marsh lamb, craft ales, local wine, Anglesey sea salt, delicious cheeses and sweet local honey, to name just a few. You certainly won’t go hungry if you holiday in Snowdonia!
