Happy Holidays

Iiiiiiit’s the Easter holidays! One of our favourite bank holidays of the whole year – because there are two so close together that it means a super long weekend for lots of happy people.

So, what are you getting up to this weekend? The sun is shining here in Snowdonia, and the view from the Oakeley Arms Hotel garden is absolutely stunning. But apart from lounging in the garden, there are lots of things that families across the country will get up to this weekend. Here’s a top 10 list of bank holiday fun activities…..

• Get Handy! This one’s debatable as to whether it belongs in the “fun” category but DIY is one of the most popular bank holiday activities. From gardening to plastering and wall-papering to furniture making, thousands of people will embark on their very own DIY project over the weekend. Just take care – DIY injuries peak over bank holiday weekends, so watch that thumb!
• Take a break! If DIY isn’t your thing (and who can blame you!) then the second most popular bank holiday fun is to take escape and take a trip. If the weather’s sunny then why not pack the tent and take the family camping?
• Visit Wales! The long Easter weekend is the start of the tourist season for many holiday destinations across the UK, and our lovely Snowdonia is no exception. Given that the sky is a dazzling blue and the sun is scorching, it’s set to be a busy one so get here quick to avoid the queues!
• Spend, Spend, Spend! A shopping trip is another of the most popular bank holiday fun activities, with many shops reporting increases in sales over the long weekend. This weekend we’re predicting sales of BBQ stuff, ice cream and sunglasses will hit an all time high!
• High as a Mountain! Another fave bank holiday fun time is to get out into the great outdoors, whether that means climbing a mountain, heading to the beach, going on a long walk or taking the dog to the park. Get out and enjoy the sunshine and the extra day off work!
• Chocaholics unite! Of course, Easter wouldn’t be easter without an egg (or 7…..). How many have you scoffed so far?!
• Film Fest! If the weather turns then it’s time to get settled on the sofa with a big glass of wine, some snacks and a few films. Bank holidays are a prime time for the TV channels to show new family films. Pass that popcorn.
• Drinkies! Come and join us here at the Oakeley Arms for a lovely bank holiday drink or bar meal. If this sunshine hangs around all weekend then we promise that there’ll be nowhere better to be than our lovely, sunny beer garden. See you there!
